Why is it called Devil’s Half Acre?

The plot of land where our beer garden sits was once the place where mill workers lived while working at the local sawmill on Mill Stream. During their off hours, the mill workers enjoyed all forms of celebration (and some say debauchery); hence, the name “Devil’s Half Acre.”
